About me & Contact

I qualified from Guy's Hospital Medical School more than 30 years ago.  After a year working in Newfoundland and New Zealand I settled in West Sussex where I still live.

For most of my medical career I was a GP partner, trainer and appraiser.  Over time I became more and more fascinated by the ways in which physical and psychological problems are so inseparably connected.

In addition to General Practice I also worked in the excellent Chronic Fatigue/ME service at St. Bart's in London.  Later I led the NHS CFS/ME service for Sussex.  One of the huge benefits of this work was having time to listen to patients properly.

Coaching offers the same.  Time to listen.  So perhaps without realising it, my interest in coaching probably started many years ago.

I decided to train formally as a coach and qualified with Barefoot, widely recognised as one of the leading coach training organisations in the UK.

It is one of the best things I have done professionally.

I am a certified member of the International Coaching Federation, an organisation committed to maintaining the highest standards of coaching.

Home is in West Sussex near the South Downs and close to the sea.  My two sons and their families live nearby.  I also spend two or three months each year in rural South West France.  Away from work I love all kinds of music, from Bach and Beethoven to Dave Brubeck and Bruce Springsteen.  I love cooking and drinking good wine and own a ridiculous number of cookery books.  I try to counter the calories with walking, tennis and some yoga.  My other half and I have just discovered Padel, a great and sociable form of exercise!
